TDS turns on fiber network in Lewisport, Kentucky
Residents and businesses to gain up to 1Gig super high-speed data connections
TDS Telecommunications LLC is excited to announce customer installations of super-fast internet have started in Lewisport, Kentucky thanks to its new fiber network project. Up to 1Gig internet speeds are now available to more than 450 area addresses, both residential and commercial. The second phase of TDS’ build is expected to launch to customers at the end of the month, ultimately connecting more than 875 locations when complete.
“We’re delighted the first customers are now enjoying this high-speed infrastructure investment in Lewisport,” says Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Drew Petersen. “Fiber-optics are a game changer because they deliver a great online experience with reliable, strong, data connections to residents and businesses alike.”
Construction activity on the high-speed project has included burying conduit and fiber cable in public utility easement areas and hanging cable on utility poles. When finished, the company expects to have installed approximately 13 miles of fiber cabling across the community.
Residents with addresses included in the TDS build area can select from a range of super-fast internet options up to 1Gig. All speeds come with symmetrical upload and download speed—more important than ever with the increase in work from home, virtual meetings, and online health care visits since the COVID pandemic. Beyond 1Gig, businesses can gain dedicated connections up to 10Gig, as well as phone service including managedIP, a hosted Voice over IP (VoIP) solution.
TDS has served customers in Lewisport for nearly 33 years. Residents can visit TDSFiber.com/KYfiber or call 1-888-225-5837 for more information about the new internet speeds.
